 "Thaïs" (J. Massenet / Toulon)
Soprano Danielle Streiff completed her musical studies at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux, with the famous baritone Robert Massard. She unanimously won severel prizes and was selected among 2065 candidates to study at the Ecole d'Art Lyrique de l'Opéra de Paris with Hans Hotter, Christa Ludwig and Gianfranco Rivoll. Discovered by Bernard Lefort, Director of the Opéra de Paris, during the Les Voix d'Or competition, she was later offered the role of Parasha in Stravinsky's Mavra. She made her debut at the Paris Opéra Comique in Massenet's Manon. She also debuted a few years ago In Nantes with Mireille by Gounod, Le Pré aux Clercs by Herold and with Micaëla in Carmen.
In Lyon she sang in La bohème and Le Roi Malgré lui; she also performed at the Radio France Festival in La Prova di un Opera seria by Gnecco, and in Strasbourg she was heard in Pauvre Assessin by Finzi. During the 1997-98 Season, she sang the title role of Manon by Massenet at the Teatro Comunale in Trieste, Ms. Streiff has also performed In numerous concerts: Mozart's Requiem, Haydn's Creation, Poulenc's Stabat Mater, Beethoven's 9th Symphony and Shostakovich's Sieben Lieder (Paris: Comédie des Champs-Elysées).
She has given various concerts in Montreal, Tokyo, Osaka and in Reunion Island. Ms. Streiff works with famous conductors such as Prêtre (with whom she has recorded Le Roi David by Honneger for ZDF), Kent Nagano, Sir Charles Mackerras, Daniel Oren and Peter Öetvös. She can be heard on recordings such as Arnadis by Massenet (Forlane) which received the Orphée d'Or for the best French record of 1990 (Choirs and Orchestra of the Opéra de Paris, Dir. Patrick Fournillier).
The 1998-99 Season Included performances in La Traviata in Trieste and in The Rake's Progress (Anne Truelove). During the 2000-2001 Season, Ms. Streiff performed in Thaïs In Toulon, La Traviata (Violetta) in Liège and St. Etienne, and Marouf by Henri Rabaud (La Princesse) in Marseille. Future engagernents include Manon In Toulon.
